EST3 to EST4 Upgrade: Essential Deadlines and Preparation

The systems that ensure safety and protect our buildings also advance with technology. The switch to the newest EST4 fire alarm system from the EST3 system is one example of this progress. Here at Building Electronic Controls (BEC), we are committed to keeping you updated on these significant developments and assisting you in making a seamless transition.

Understanding the Change

Edwards recently declared that shortages in the industry and manufacturing limitations would lead to the discontinuation of the EST3 fire alarm system. Although this piece of news has raised many rumors and doubts, BEC is here to give you the correct information and help you through this upgrade.

Why Upgrade to EST4?

Regarding technology, the EST4 system is a major advancement over the EST3 platform. BEC has made significant investments in EST4 system training for our technicians. As a result, we have successfully installed many complex EST4 systems throughout Southern and Northern California, including Los Angeles, Sacramento, Bakersfield, Fresno, and Orange County. We have everything we need to handle the upgrade of your website effectively.

Ninety percent of your existing panel will not change, which is good news. Conduit modifications are generally not required for the upgrade, which consists solely of a new CPU and LCD module. Moreover, there will not be a need for a total panel overhaul because replacement panels will be completely backward compatible in the future.

Key Deadlines to Keep in Mind

To ensure a smooth transition, it is important to be aware of the following deadlines:

New EST3 system parts will no longer be available for purchase on December 31, 2023. Make sure to get any new parts for your EST3 system before this date if you require them.

The EST3 system’s replacement parts will become unavailable after December 31, 2026. Even though 2026 may seem far off, it is essential to prevent any last-minute rush or issues.

Planning Your Upgrade

We strongly advise you to arrange an Upgrade Assessment Visit with the BEC Service Team to ensure a seamless transition. We can provide you with a personalized upgrade plan, assist you in creating your budget, and help arrange the implementation with your local fire department all thanks to this visit. By booking this visit in advance, you will ensure prompt service and support and a place on BEC’s priority list.

Stay Proactive

Avoid being unprepared for the 2026 deadline. BEC is devoted to supporting you in keeping your fire alarm systems safe and dependable as well as helping you get ready for the future. You can guarantee a seamless transition and continue to gain from the most recent developments in fire safety technology by scheduling your EST3 to EST4 upgrade as soon as possible.
