Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to participate in a variety of therapeutic outdoor athletic programs and events. Located in Mammoth Lakes, California, DSES has been hosting trainings, camps, and various adaptive sporting programs since 2007. These programs welcome people with cognitive or physical disabilities, their families, and the public to participate in assorted summer and winter sports throughout the year.
For the last 10 years, Rick and Shelley Taylor have been actively and passionately involved with DSES and the capital campaign for building a National Wounded Warrior Center in Mammoth Lakes, California. In 2005, Shelley headed the remodel of the organization’s headquarters which included providing the office with entirely new furniture and customized work spaces. Rick is currently a volunteer member of the Board of Directors.
In addition to regularly attending events and hosting meetings, Rick also helps organize potential contributors and advises on the financial oversight of the capital campaign for the National Wounded Warrior Center. This state of the art center will provide educational opportunities and rehabilitation efforts to wounded, ill and injured servicemen and women. The construction of this project is scheduled to break ground winter of 2019.
